I really hope this period of time opens a lot more people’s eyes to the flimsy fiction that capitalism is just “the way things are,” that it’s anything other than a system we’ve created, an outrageously cruel and absurd one at that, and one we can replace with something else.

I'm remembering all those annoying easy critiques of ""socialism"", boot factories just meaninglessly producing boots; but now here it's empty planes, empty parks, empty shelves and a population who are so downtrodden they cannot even afford to be ill.

I mean this could be done sensibly (everyone not feeling well stays home, paid - the others help doing stuff that needs to be done, but usually isn't bc busy, like learning a new role, cleaning out storage, small repairs) but *something* tells me this may not be the case here lol
