I work my first night shift on Monday (8 PM-5 AM); if anyone has pointers for prepping my body for this adjustment beyond just trying as much as possible to stay up through the night and sleep during the day, I'd be appreciative!

Good luck. Night shifts are a killer when you have things to do in the day.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't think there's any way around the fact that it's gonna be rough.

This is probably the worst thing to hear, but make your sleeping schedule as rigid as possible. It sucks, but wavering from day to day, or trying something different on weekends, will really make things miserable.

I was a hotel night auditor for several years. I've got a couple hints that helped me: 1. Stretch breaks / movement breaks. If possible, use your body whenever you can while working. 2. Blackout curtains help tremendously for darkening the room for day sleep.

I did the same thing for a long time. Adjusting your eating schedule is also helpful. I found it best to wake up right before work, have breakfast, have lunch at work, and wait til I was off to eat dinner. Blackout curtains and sleep masks are helpful.

Food. I did the same shift on weekends for about a year. Eat the best, cleanest food you could possibly imagine. It helps keep your insides happy and for me that helps keep my brain awake.

Caffeine (drink before you need it, there's a lag before it kicks in, but this isn't news), audio and/or visual stimulus to keep your brain engaged, if it works with where you're working and what you're doing - music, light, probably not YouTube in the background ;-) Good luck!

Have a food/snacks plan to keep yourself fueled and awake. Don't just rely on caffeine and/or sugar.

I work similar hours; for me, blackout curtains help with sleeping, and be sure to stay hydrated and eat something light if you can during your shift cause it’s easy to forget. It’s going to be tough at first, no way around it 😕

All my advice revolves around the fact that you're Batwoman. Never give away your secret identity. Always aim batarangs away from you. When in doubt, just grapple away. Oh and use the shadows to your advantage as much as possible.
