When I was young, I had a consistent internal monologue. For a long long time I haven't, but I feel like this is largely the result of trauma and years of dissociation, and I would very much like to get my internal monologue back.https://ryanandrewlangdon.wordpress.com/2020/01/28/today-i-learned-that-not-everyone-has-an-internal-monologue-and-it-has-ruined-my-day/ …

Fun fact: Occasionally getting high will conjure an internal monologue for a little while, so I know that in some sense the machinery in there is still capable of it, even if most of the time it doesn't quite work the way it's supposed to.

Seems I'm one of the weirdos with no internal monologue. However, when I'm in a meltdown or anxiety attack I become externally hypersensitive (so all sensory info feels "louder") and internally hyposensitive (less connected to my physical body). The imbalance feels just awful!

My partner has also used cannabis to intentionally help with healing from trauma, including dissociation. It used to be so bad that now even very basic sensory perception has changed for her, e.g. food literally tastes more vivid. I hope it continues to help you too!

Np! She was using the cannabis for narrative processing and combining with mindful movement, anti-depressants, and other therapies over the years. Everyone's got a different toolbox, just sucks how hard it often is putting it together.

🚩SofiaRune 🏴 @SofiaRuneThe goal of this process is to better connect the rest of your body with a part of the brain called the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC). There’s a lot of research out there that suggests people with a healthy relationship with themselves and others have a well-connected MPFC.Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
I do but I hadn't seen these before so thank you. And yeah, if only we each came with our own personalized owner's manual!
