I definitely want to be clear that I'm not in any way implying that everyone who lacks an internal monologue does so for reasons of trauma or anything of the sort. It makes perfect sense to me that different people's minds just experience and process thought in different ways.

are you unable to hear it, or do you not trust it? i feel like i might have one but it usually seems antithetical to what would actually be “good” for me? and my distrust makes it...speak up less? gonna be mulling this over for a bit; thanks for sharing your experience & article

In my case, it's not like I don't have any words or narration in my mind. It's just obfuscated and inconsistent. Very often if a person were to ask me what I'm thinking about, my only honest answer would be "nothing" or "I don't know." And not in some good "zen" enlightened way.

Seems I'm one of the weirdos with no internal monologue. However, when I'm in a meltdown or anxiety attack I become externally hypersensitive (so all sensory info feels "louder") and internally hyposensitive (less connected to my physical body). The imbalance feels just awful!

My partner has also used cannabis to intentionally help with healing from trauma, including dissociation. It used to be so bad that now even very basic sensory perception has changed for her, e.g. food literally tastes more vivid. I hope it continues to help you too!
