Fun fact: Occasionally getting high will conjure an internal monologue for a little while, so I know that in some sense the machinery in there is still capable of it, even if most of the time it doesn't quite work the way it's supposed to.

I definitely want to be clear that I'm not in any way implying that everyone who lacks an internal monologue does so for reasons of trauma or anything of the sort. It makes perfect sense to me that different people's minds just experience and process thought in different ways.

My mind does both... I can have conversations in my head with voices, but some concepts are easier stored as "concept maps". Though I can rarely choose how the info is being processed.
