There being exactly two McGuffins that bring the characters where they need to go in TRoS, one for the Villain and one for the Heroes, is one such thing. Their existence is super convenient for the plot but doesn't technically break any rules (7/?)

Same deal with most of the explanations for stuff like Snoke, Palpatine's return, 3PO not being able but not "allowed" to interpret Sith writing etc. These things are convenient for the plot as they move it forward in a contrived way, but none of them are impossible. (8/?)

A good movie can actually get away with contrivances and even ACTUAL outright plotholes and still be good because you don't think of them. Oddly enough an example of this is Raiders of The Lost Ark. TO THIS DAY the most cited "Plothole" for the movie isn't a plothole (9/?)

That "Plothole" being that Indy was mostly ineffectual towards the outcome of the Nazis getting their faces melted off. Whether he got involved or not, the Nazis would have gotten the Ark, opened it, and Melted. He was ultimately pointless to it. (10/?)

There was even a whole episode of Big Bang Theory where the movie was "Ruined" for Sheldon because Amy pointed it out to him. But it's NOT a plothole. The movie isn't ABOUT how some Nazis melted, it's ABOUT Indy's personal growth. (11/?)

What "Plotholes" are and the reason they've become so popular is because they feel like a way for a person to list "Objective" reasons they don't like a piece of art. Like if you can make a list long enough you can prove a thing is "Objectively" bad (13/?)

It's wrong for us to want the writers to think through the repercussions of the decisions they make on their characters and world.

It is in fact wrong to think that having identified a “plot hole” or even a plot contrivance is a knock down argument that something is bad

Thankfully the thread this tweet is from explains at length the kind of falsely identified “plot hole” to which it’s referring.
