I would like the next decade to be one in which people collectively indulge less in a feeling of haughty superiority to the styles and technologies with which people created art in the past.

What the fuck? The stop motion in RC2 is one of the coolest robot fights made. It still holds up. The slightly janky stop motion is part of the aesthetic.

I had a friend once tell me he can’t watch any SF from before the mid 80s because he can’t suspend his disbelief enough. Which, damn. Suspension of disbelief is a muscle, and if you can’t exercise it once in awhile, you miss out on some pretty good stuff.

Would they say the same about the works of Ray Harryhausen? Early Disney movies?

One could only say that if you'd view Robocop as a simple action movie. To me, the ED-209 stop-motion sequence is highly functional. It emphasizes how clunky and imperfect Ed is, it makes RoboCop look like a ballerina.

Quite right. More soul in any one second of Phil Tippett’s genius than in the entirety of the boring CGI in the remake.

Yeah if he (I’m 100% positive it’s a dude) watched Robocop today and his main takeaway was the subpar video effects, he, no offense, sucks.
