“Politics are divisive and therefore have no place in ASMR.” Could not disagree more. In the U.S. if you are not advocating for the disenfranchised, from whatever platform you have, you are prevaricating — at best. If you discourage others from speaking you are complicit.

The choice not to be political is itself a deeply political choice, one which reaffirms the oppressive status quo, something you also do when you retweet people like the fascist transphobe Bl*ire Wh*te. https://medium.com/@transphilosophr/trans-people-can-be-transphobic-too-8ad7fe10a2e0 …

It's just the reality that you can't make everyone feel safe, because when you extend your community to everyone, including, say, fascist, white supremacist Trump supporters, that makes others feel unsafe, because those people make communities unsafe for marginalized people.

Racists, transphobes, fascists don't deserve comfort. They don't deserve tingles. As a culture, we have to collectively make those people uncomfortable and afraid again, so that marginalized and persecuted people can feel safe. And I'll leave it at that. Wish you all the best.
