Would you agree that impact sometimes matters and needs to be engaged with? I mean, if a work actively reinforces transphobia, isn't it irresponsible of a critic to disregard that entirely?

like I've seen people use "this reinforces transphobia" to mean "this treats trans characters like shit" and I've seen it mean "this art was created by a trans woman and it's complicated in a way that makes me uncomfortable, so she should die"
