LRT: That's actually about sexism IMO, men who honestly don't conceptualize women as being fundamentally human in the same way that they are, but rather only as bodies to be objectified, and therefore the idea of identifying with a woman in such a way is deeply wrong.

So yeah, IMO this isn't a revealing, potentially teachable thing about gender dysphoria. It's a revealing, potentially teachable thing about a lack of basic empathy and an inability to see women as fundamentally human.

Just fondly thinking back to when Capcom felt gamers would find it "gay" for the protagonist of Remember Me to kiss or have a boyfriend...

Agreed. I think it's possibly deeper than looking at only women in certain ways. It seems to lack any sort of empathy or understanding and may extend to men too for all we know. Just my 2 cents (& i have no probs playing any sex/race in a game, even VR. I'd play an alien in VR)

That whole train of thought is just really disturbing to me. I've been on a bit of a VR bender these past couple months, and when I see my avatar and it's a girl, my only complaint is that sometimes my avatar floats a bit because I'm a tall dude and the player model is shorter.

Back then when I played Star Wars - Knights of the old Republic I played as a male & female character. And there was something exciting for me as a cis man to play as a woman. Though game experience was no big difference but exploring the world as a woman was interesting anyway.
