Not a fan of the take. In gaming, we celebrate the simplicity of Mario and its ilk as great games that get people into gaming. But maybe Zelda aside, Nintendo doesn't really make the gaming version of "cinema." They court fun and charm, and that's about it.

I'm down to criticize them, for sure. But doing it on for being simple? Nah. There's great complex art, and great simple art. The MCU is NOT great simple art. There's room to criticize its many failings, including its process, but dragging its validity as cinema? That isn't it.

Action movies and blockbusters are nothing new. Since Star Wars there were always franchise movies and big budget action flicks. Also exactly what is cinema? Was cinema always the places for auteurs?
