I'm glad these films were never going to give us this because it feels more honest to me, and myths should be honest in those big ways. Life doesn't always give us the big reunion tours we want. We don't always get that last one drink or adventure or whatever with an old friend.

So it seems to me that there's a built-in undercurrent of grief in these films in the acknowledgment of that, and in the refusal to give viewers one last big predictable ya-hoo! reunion moment. Sometimes all we can do is carry the absent in our hearts.
