There are that thankfully no loose or super crumbly bricks and only a very slight offset along the crack so the structure itself seems to have held up well. And it doesn't appear to be leaning or bulging. So that's all good at least.

This is the only structural thing about the house that is really worrying me. We're going to have to make sure it's structurally sound and taken care of so we don't get murdered by a falling chimney while we sleep.

Big dangerous thing left to rot and grow worse behind flimsy walls that represent a solidity and safety they don't actually possess. You pay for the house but get the heavy handed metaphors for free.

Someone should think about using an old house as embodiment of a theme in a story sometime. Seems like there's something there.

Freeing the chimney from more wood and plaster today. The damage we've uncovered thankfully could have been a lot worse and I'm glad we found it now. Janky-ass pile of bricks.pic.twitter.com/r4LPaD9nUo

What's cool is you can really see the box that is the living room bathroom now. Runs right along the left edge of the chimney as this separate little bathroom box. An entire world of bathroom lies inside.pic.twitter.com/tmwvPlBuPg

There's a large bulkhead in the kitchen above the countertop. Now if you've been paying attention to this thread, what would you assume it's covering that would take up that much space?pic.twitter.com/LoyPUnFp1w

The space wasted by this bulkhead is bigger than some places I've lived. Previous owners here must have thought several rooms were just too big. Or they worshipped some god who abhorred open square footage.pic.twitter.com/hHvGHEKs3s
