I routinely hear all types of game players--Twitch streamers, game critics, etc., say things like "You could never argue that [game X] is good, but it's a joy to play." And I get it, but I also wish we didn't feel the need to make these deferences to what's "objectively" good.

It's okay to think that a buggy, strange little platformer that nobody's heard of is beautiful & great. It's okay to think that a massively successful open-world RPG that critics & gamers agree defines quality is lifeless and uninteresting. Fuck consensus. Your tastes are valid.
