The world of The Witcher 3 didn't shy away from unpleasantness by any stretch, but there was still recognizable humanity in it. Geralt had principles, and people he cared for, and the game often took its time to establish and develop those relationships.

Of course what we've seen so far are gameplay demos. They're meant to focus on mechanics and gameplay options, not where you might find the shards of humanity in the game that make it all mean something. I just really hope that stuff is there, somewhere.
