in Dragon Quest Builders 2 there's a whole bit where you're trying to motivate miners and the way to do it is to build a bar for them. dudes keep saying like "i'll mine more during the day if i know i can come here and drink my sadness away at night!"

DQB2 is probably the most intensely guided game I've ever played. You're not just going to someone to get a quest and then turning in the quest.

You're talking to them, ending that convo, doing a second convo where they give you the quest, having some other character direct you how to do each step exactly, finishing the quest, having the quest giver congratulate you, and then having a second convo to finish the quest.

It's weird, but thus far I'm enjoying how in-your-face the NPCs are. To me it's making it all feel more like a community effort of sorts, even though I know it's just NPCs keeping me on a narrow track.

i'm enough hours into it that i would love like 3 lines of summary for every long convo so i can get back to building things and mining
