that was sorta the weird thing about the incredibles and black panther too, how like, yeah the villain probably shouldn't be trying to murder people, but also their philosophy (minus the murder) is easily more equitable than the hero.

Agreed, although I would say the whole arc of Black Panther was T'Challa coming to accept that Killmonger was in the right apart from the murder, and that his father (and by extension, tradition in general) were in the wrong.
