How are so many straight white dudes still convinced that their perspective on games and other media is “apolitical” and not itself shaped and informed by their experiences as straight white dudes?

Opting not to address the politics of a Tom Clancy game or a Call of Duty game or whatever in a review is itself a political choice and it results, however unintentionally, in a political piece of writing.

What might pass itself off as "the view from nowhere," unfettered by political concerns, is actually the view from a very specific place, a place of race, gender & class privilege that feels unaffected by the political concerns that dramatically impact all of our lives every day.
