This is amazing—Stranger Things 3's Starcourt Mall wasn't a sound stage. It was all built inside an actual dying mall in Georgia. And the set designers made more than simple storefronts—they made FULL INTERIORS, even for stores that were never seen on-screen…pic.twitter.com/v5RahFLPeR

Some daring fans went around barricades before and after filming to get close-ups of some of those interiors, including Radio Shack, The Gap, JC Penney, and many more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v6A1YSXv0I#t=1m45s …pic.twitter.com/OkokZgbKEf

For me, I'm most interested in a store that I never noticed on-screen at all: a reconstruction of a mom-and-pop 1980s computer and videogame store called "The Game Player," located right next to the movie theater. (Photos by @nekoarc.)pic.twitter.com/yKryQ6sAOL

In this video, @nekoarc captured a WIP interior from outside Game Player, stocked with vintage gaming systems and boxed games, with logos from popular consoles on the wall. (Though Sega's a mistake, they didn't release a U.S. console until '86.)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjKbO9WlhOU …

This video shows the mall in the aftermath of the alien battle, and manages to get inside the store, with much more detail starting at 0:57. Commodore, Coleco, Intellivision, and more, with prices and games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp1LyxNQvkE …pic.twitter.com/lc7GrqVorU

There's a nice-looking arcade called Time-Out on the other side of the movie theater, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any good footage of it in action. You can see the exterior and interior in @nekoarc's video starting at 4:00. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGuYb18td5k …pic.twitter.com/ydiiBgFct6

Time-Out was a chain of mall arcades at one point I think. I'm almost positive one of the malls I frequented in Southern California in the late 80s/early 90s had one.

Oh, of course. I don't know why I didn't put that together, I saw this remarkable collection of photos a couple years ago.https://arcadeblogger.com/2017/08/18/time-out-arcade-amazing-classic-arcade-pictures/ …
