Still clinging to the hope that it turns out she was conceived as a Palpatine clone. That's the only retcon I wouldn't shake my head at.
didn't we just talk about how much that didn't matter?
My immediate hope was that they roll out a few test tubes and we find out she’s from some lost clone project.
I suspect she was “manifested” in her mother’s womb by Palpatine the same way Vader was (which is apparently canon now).
“Rise of Skywalker.” Means either Palpatine or both him and Rey. He “in a way”, was the original Skywalker.
I mean addressing her parentage could just mean that we’ll have more background info on the parents Kylo mentioned. Hopefully its not some heroic lineage thing.
Sure. Though if they’re “nobodies” (in the mythological sense, non-Skywalkers etc.) I kinda feel like the whole point is that it doesn’t matter who they are and that we don’t need any more info on them. But obviously the proof is in the pudding. We’ll see.
"You came here as a baby... through a portal... from another place and time..." *JJ Abrams adds extra scene tying Star Wars to Lost and the Cloverfield universe. Everyone's heads explode. The end.*
"They can be a great people, Rey, if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only daughter."
