Wow. 198X just about knocked my socks off. It was the game I needed at this moment. I'll be writing something about why it worked for me the way it did, but in the meantime I encourage you to play it. It's ten bucks, out now on Steam and on PS4.

One reason 198X worked for me as well as it did is incredibly simple: it’s very sincere. Heart on sleeve. It respects Kid’s feelings and yours. I don’t have any appetite in this moment for ironic detachment or cynicism. Depth of feeling is paramount. And 198X has it in spades.
