I've said this before but this whole situation with @YouTube is really highlighting how platforms like it seem to believe that it's possible to establish a set of rules that works by treating everyone the same. (1/3)

But this will never be possible, because power dynamics in our culture mean that we're NOT the same. People like Cr*wd*r using their power and privilege to harass, terrorize and silence gay people is not the same as marginalized people pushing back against their oppressors. (2/3)

Sooner or later, platforms like
@YouTube will NEED to acknowledge this and start acting accordingly. They NEED to factor power dynamics into their rulings. They NEED to take a fucking side. (3/3)3 replies 4 retweets 28 likesShow this thread -
I mean, they have taken a side, of course. They're siding with the oppressors while paying lip service to "pride" & notions of equality. For any of us who have ever been the target of hateful rhetoric from bozos like Cr*wd*r, it's transparently obvious, and it's a fucking outrage

This is what I mean, why we can't have a 1-size-fits-all set of rules. Calling for milkshaking (or more forceful means of resistance) of right-wing pols is NOT the same as inciting the harassment of marginalized ppl bcuz conservatives in power enact policy that is itself violencepic.twitter.com/m6KmsvX7P0

There is a very real sense in which we are fighting for our fucking lives here.
