I disagree, I think eviscerations of a work can be smart, revealing, and fascinating, and it is so, so, so, so very rare to ever have a game critic think that a game is worth eviscerating, and I think that's really unfortunate.
I honestly don't think Tevis thinks that, since he spends a tremendous amount of time with what he thinks are bad games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, which he thinks is terrible but played to the end.

I think Tevis just wants critics to be able to call games outright bad sometimes. And I don't think that's a bad thing to want. I think looking at Green Book here can be constructive. It's competently made, has good acting and so on. But many critics (rightfully) condemned it.
