This has always been my confusion on what exactly "editing" means. I know that it's partly stuff like scene transitions but wouldn't you have to know about all the footage they decided not to use to say which editing was best???

What was wrong with the editing in the clip you retweeted. What can't i see? Thanks

I don’t know where to start. It’s choppy, with way too many cuts, there are cuts away from characters and to others that just don’t make sense or that happen at odd times, it just doesn’t feel thoughtful or purposeful, and it’s certainly not most people’s idea of good.

Surely the Oscars could just add a 'towering achievement of crap' category and make everyone happy... Or is that the 'best picture' category already?

It has been bugging me since last night how this won. It isn't like Best Picture where everyone votes. Only other film editors vote for this award, the people best able to recognize good vs. bad editing. A "we know what you went through" vote makes sense!
