I didn’t love Feig’s movie, I thought it was just okay, but I loved that it gave me great images of women being Ghostbusters, and I hated the misogyny-fueled outrage it generated.

Reitman’s comments are a slap in the face that validate all that misogynist rage, and tell me that, despite being a lifelong Ghostbusters fan, his movie doesn’t give a fuck about me.

Also I hate that we still need to have this fucking conversation.

I usually read these things wrong, but this seems like a twitter upset over nothing. Read multiple places that his version focuses on a group of kids, one or more of which will be female.
-
Whatever the movie may or may not be, Reitman’s comments are harmful in and of themselves IMO.

What's even more hilarious about all this is that The Real Ghostbusters -had- a female Ghostbuster, unless I misremeber that show.
-
That was a later show I think—The Extreme Ghostbusters or something? TRG was the original four.

I've recently started a new playthrough of the Ghostbusters meets X-COM game, Ghost Control Inc. and have an A-team of 3 women. I think you'd like it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/280540/ pic.twitter.com/hjA1idUaBT

I’m gonna check the cartoon out then :) I hated the two original films (so much rapy-ness) but loved the concept.

Yeah, the rapey aspects flew over my head as a kid. Now, of course, they don't sit well with me. But yeah, do check out the cartoon! I can't comment on how well it holds up but I thought it was full of great ideas at the time.
