I wonder what it’s like to be one of those people for whom love is even reasonably available.

Do you think we're just too picky? I know I need to not see just what I see with my eyes, I just don't know how

I'm not sure. I know that for myself, because of deep insecurities about my body, my lack of experience, etc., I need closeness, connection, trust, respect & admiration before there can be anything else, which are very hard for me to come by and which makes me "emotionally weird"

I want to say something profound, but I have nothing

I used to be extremely picky and I used to be utterly alone at the same time. When I stopped, I stopped being alone. I'm still not sure if that's a direct correlation, though.

I've tried dating people I'm not into, just to give it a chance, to try just being with someone, in the hopes that maybe I could learn to be into them or just see if I was happier being with someone (even someone I was settling for) than with no one. It hasn't worked yet.

For me paradoxically relationships with girls mirroring my very particular tastes in music and cinema ended up horribly, almost always. They were beyond mentally unstable or unable to truly commit. Some of them struggled with the notion that anyone could be into them at all.

I didn't even work out when a girl was madly into me. For more or less the same reasons / with the same outcome as above.

Luckily I don't have to look back and be bitter about it anymore, which is the very same thing I wish would happen to you
