Octopath Traveler: Completely fails to understand that camaraderie between characters is essential to what made the classic JRPGs that inspired it so great. The little cordoned-off moments of interaction between party members are pitiful and absurd.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Yes, there is such a thing as too much fan service. In the World of Light mode, I unlocked the spirit of Mach Rider. But it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to actually do with Mach Rider. (cont...)

It’s just some stationary Mach Rider artwork with attributes assigned to it. Multiply that times 1000 and you have Nintendo’s crass, shallow attempt to capitalize on fan fervor.

Octopath and Far Cry 5 are also among my year's worst. OT was just a wannabe whose gimmick only stands out if you forget history, and FC5's handle of religion was insulting.

I dig Smash Ultimate even if I agree with you since at least the single-player mode is optional, but World of Light might be the worst fighting game campaign I have played in a long time.
