One aspect of Fortnite I love that I forgot to mention in my year-end list is the way the challenges sometimes encourage you to approach the game in different ways. For example: There was a challenge to “dance on top of a crown of RVs.” 1/?

I kept my eyes peeled for it as I was playing but didn’t see it anywhere. Finally I realized I might have better luck spotting it zooming around the island in an airplane. So I hopped in a plane and found it almost instantly. (2/?)

It reminds me a lot of how the memory challenges in Breath of the Wild encouraged a feeling of connection between you and the landscape. And as I said, I love that they nudge me to do things that aren’t about trying to win, but are just about play in the game’s world. (3/3)
