That's the biggest of the three reasons why I moved to Japanese animation. The second is the dominance of Disney and Pixar, the third is the too strong division between genres and age groups
honestly, the weird tribalism with animation is bizarre to me. like, weighing merits v faults is fine—tbh that's just good film criticism—but it seems like not enough people get that animation is a *medium* of art, so it can be implemented in different ways, yadda yadda yadda.
