The reviews I’ve looked at for Let’s Go review it ENTIRELY for Pokemon fans. The faithfulness with which Kanto is recreated. “The details you remember are all here!” etc. OK but, like, how is it as a game, on its own terms? What if you have no existing relationship with Pokemon?

Replying to @longthinshit
Needless to say, I strongly disagree. As a general rule, I think criticism should ask questions and challenge assumptions. Pokémon’s been around for a long time, sure. Do we still need it? Why? What is the value in what Let’s Go sets out to do?

The alternative seems rooted in commercialism and fandom, rather than actual criticism.
