What if men don't, but some of these assholes and maybe their followers do
I disagree. Mass shootings in the US are overwhelmingly committed by (white) men. The kind of toxic entitlement to video game culture we see manifest in many individuals is overwhelmingly (white) men. Etc. We cannot genuinely confront the issues if we ignore these facts.

We certainly shouldn't ignore these facts. But what would be the solution? I suppose we can only talk in broad terms, but I think it could be better to promote the virtuous, instead of exposing to the bad ones and say "this is what men do", because it isn't true for majority.

Also I know you didn't ask for this, but allow me to provide perspective why I got triggered by this in the first place: I try to do what is in my power to drive for and embrace culture where we don't need to focus on gender, as well as promote to get to diverse environment...
