IMO no industry should be that exploitative of people. The fact that they can go work elsewhere doesn’t make it okay that people are being pushed past the breaking point to make the games I play and enjoy.
A lot of very talented people who work in games hate the experience of crunch. It takes a toll on their mental health, puts undue strain on their family life, etc. I’d much rather a game take 3 more months to develop at 40-hr work weeks than grind people through 100-hr week’s.
