Spider-Man is conventional to a fault, but it elevates itself above its own overly familiar format with great, often-surprising character moments, mission design that is sometimes thrilling, a wealth of wonderful little details, and, yes, exhilarating traversal.

And JJ Jameson is a nice variation on Alex Jones that can make you chuckle instead of overwhelming you with BS like the real thing

Agreed! Plus, so much of what was great lately was heavy AF. Horizon Zero Missed-Headshots, Boi of War, etc. I've played through both and love them, but Spider-Man feels like such a wonderful divergence. Hell, even from some of the current MU movies. It just feels *good*.

As much as I didn’t enjoy the collectible-driven open-world, it’s hard to fault a game that has a dedicated high five/wave/finger gun button. The city is just so friendly and welcoming.

Spider-Man's NYC is what I wished New Donk City was.

I loved a lot of things in the game, story, characters, gameplay. But the R&D and pigeon missons boredme big time. The super hero immertion breaks chaising birds.
