i feel like before we watch, we should (if we haven't already) understand that Picard was *not* a perfect character, by design, and if he's the same Picard we know and adore, he may exhibit some philosophies that are problematically pro establishment (and possibly euro-centric)
Sure, I'm not saying I want Picard to be a flawless paragon of humanity. I just don't want him turned into a more cynical character to fit a more cynical worldview.
I know the type of cynicism you're talking about, and I would hate for him to end up developing that. But, I *do* actually want him to become more cynical in the way that... Luke, became, actually: Critical of past beaurocracy, inaction, glorification, etc
(by the way, I absolutely didn't mean to @ you with a bunch of stuff you already knew/believed! I guess I just wanted to type it out to understand my own feelings on the thing)
