An actor like ScarJo (who I really like) has a million opportunities. A great trans actor struggling to make a name for themselves has almost none.

Oh, 100%. And like maybe soooomeday, in a truly equal world, cis actors can play trans people and trans actors can play cis people and actors will get the opportunities they deserve regardless of whether they’re cis or trans. But, yeah, we have a long way to go before that.

You’re right! I just focus on how that impacts trans people/people of color/other marginalized folks because to me personally that’s the most important consequence.

Yeah, there's a show on FX right now called POSE that has a number of trans actors as trans characters and it's so important for that reason. Hoping media like that catches on and starts setting new standards for this stuff.
