Anyhoo, with all the weird hate obsession, I thought I would share you my positive feelings of what has become my favourite Star Wars.

Also, the X-Wing in the water, and the way it completely subverts what you expect based on Empire Strikes Back. (Also, Rey's confrontation of her own selves, and the way that related to Empire.)

Also I could talk about the Hardware Wars reference forever. (The transition to the clothing iron.)

Oh and another thing: this is Mark Hamill's defining performance. And the fact that his voice is so non-actorly (for sake of a better word) is part of what makes it.

After all that's happened, he still sounds like the kid who grew up on Tattooine hoping to go pick up some power converters.

I love that Luke, like Obi-Wan and Yoda, has gone into exile. And like them, he couldn't escape conflict in one way or another. But unlike them, his ultimate legacy is not that he helped revive the ways of the Jedi, but that he had to discard them.

Of *course* this film was written to purposefully subvert what we think should happen and must happen. The end result is a bit messy. But to me, very vital in how the film connects with me. OK, I shall stop now. I like a thing, is all I'm saying.

OK I lied one more thing that moment when Rey and Kylo turn their backs to each other after THAT THING happened and then THE NEXT THING happens and It's almost too good.

It's a scene about facades, echoed in how the very physicality of that room changes.

It is a scene about truth. Truth hurts. It burns. It's mundane. How that room's perfect red facade is torn away to show that what's really there is like everywhere else. It isn't special.

Replying to @carolynmichelle
Caro. This movie. It's better every time. Not a lot of movies grow like that for me.
