Letterman says, reflecting on how his show had no female writers, "There was no policy against women writers." That's not enough, in established, structurally sexist fields. There needs to be active efforts made to right the long-established, constantly reinforced imbalances.

What else would it be? I'm confused. Is it just thousands of unrelated coincidences stretching back dozens of years?

Man tells woman that if he was a woman he wouldn’t want to do something... like that’s an argument against an actual woman wanting to do something.

Sexism is clearly a component. I'm curious how that balances with self-selection, since other careers, even certain well-paying ones, are dominated by women. It is zero-sum. If you theoretically eliminated sexism, what would the male to female ratio be in the games industry?

Roughly 50%, not accounting for non-binary folks.
