Public service was not meant to be and shouldn't be a career. And, if we want to make it a career, we need a much improved hiring process, candidate criteria and qualifications screening.

Most importantly, public employees need to accountable for their performance just like everyone else. I don’t think most people realize that public employees can’t be fired for being bad at their jobs.

I see most do it for the pensions and get complacent. Private industry the opposite, squeezing every last penny and leading people to burnout discarding them like used batteries.
