Oh my! I have FINALLY got my hands on some advance copies of the UK edition of #OnSavageShores, and look how beautiful! The final version (which you can preorder here, ahem geni.us/OnSavageShores) will have gold foil, lovely pictures, fewer typos, and my name on the front!)

In the next three weeks I am now apparently recording three podcasts, one interview, one television programme and one audiobook. Oh, and doing a photo shoot. (This is on top of teaching, admin and the grant application I have due on Tuesday.)

I hope most of my students would agree that I make every effort to be as supportive as humanly possible, but this is a horrible idea. Students should be able to access a trained mental-health professional when they are in crisis not, frankly, me.

There is a distressingly large number of people who are prepared to give away the principle of Gillick Competence solely to bar trans children, on the basis parents act for the best. Which is ironic given how many of them would deny affirming treatment WITH parental consent.
