  4. Ontario update on : 34 patients currently being tested for the coronavirus. Of those, 12 have tested negative at the province's lab, but national lab must confirm results. Since testing began, 90 people have tested negative and three have tested positive.

    Health Minister says passengers will be screened by Chinese officials before entering Wuhan airport. A second screening will be done by Canadian Forces before passengers get on plane. Flight will re-fuel in Vancouver, with all remaining on board.

    Federal government now providing an update on plan to evacuate Canadians from Wuhan area. Plane has been secured, flight crews and response teams all have visas. Govt is waiting for final approval from Chinese authorities. Plane needs special dispensation to leave.

    Dr. Williams says many in Canada are responding to with fear/panic, but the evidence shows that at this stage, the risks here are low. Question those sources that are stoking fears, including on social media, he says.

    Asymptomatic infection may be rare, and transmission from an asymptomatic person is very rare with other coronaviruses, as we have seen with MERS. Thus, transmission from asymptomatic cases is likely not a major driver of transmission
