Trump just defended Charlottesville white supremacists again, responding to Joe Biden’s video. Give it to Biden, Trump exposes his racism again. Trump said, I was defending Gen. Robert E. Lee — the man who fought his country to keep slavery.https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/04/25/meet-trump-charlottesville-truthers/?utm_term=.4ed541833602 …

The majority of these monuments were erected in the early part of the 20th century and were mass produced for groups wanted to remind African Americans of their place in Southern society at the time. They exist for purely racist reasons.https://qz.com/1054062/statues-of-confederate-soldiers-across-the-south-were-cheaply-mass-produced-in-the-north/ …
-
Oh yeah, the only sensible Confederate monuments are on actual battlefields. Some of the "monuments" I've seen down south - like this enormous garish monument to Nathan Bedford Forrest - in a park in a black neighborhood - are despicable.
-
It's funny how they celebrate a war that they lost, which was about them being assholes to African Americans and the Union. Gotta remember that L
-
It's because dumb white southern conservatives are always trying to portray themselves as "true victims" - hence the "Lost Cause" mythos. You can even see that today with the BS about "100 smirking MAGA hat teens were 'victims' of four angry black guys ridiculing them."
-
The south was Democrats and the north was Republican. Democrats then like today want people of color under their thumb. Why else welfare checks and food stamps. The more people of color get the more the Dems can control them.
-
Haha oh yeah because the parties are exactly where they were in 1865, dumbass....

Lee was literally one of the worst generals of the traitors. No one should honor him. He was trained by the US military and betrayed his duty, his country and in his betrayal failed miserably at the hands of Grant and Sherman.
-
He fought for the south because he did not want to fight his neighbors.
-
That's a lame excuse for Lee. Basically "my state right or wrong". If my neighbors in Pennsylvania are racist hicks who want to destroy the country - damn right I'll fight them. And many brave southerns did (check
@DrRobThompson for daily listings) -
I guess being a democrat was the deciding factor.
-
So a Dem from 1866 brought up to 2008 would vote for Obama? Your lies and/or historical knowledge are absurdly weak.
-
It’s the great deception. Democrat voters think that giving away other people’s tax money for votes is compassion.
-
Hahaha you dumb white-tra$h hick - your fantasies about Dems and taxes have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand - nor reality!
-
@brea_pri is a total idiot. Just block him. He isn't worth anyone's time.

Excellent point. He abandoned his country to fight for his state. The country that invested in his military training and believed in him. But REL was treasonists and accept for AL he could have been hanged/hung/faced a Firing Squad. AL wanted to heal US all DJT does is hurt US
-
People support statue preservation for many reasons - historical, political, aesthetic, etc. DJT like AL took the more sophisticated, adult-level view - he condemned totally those who needed condemning, and did not condemn gray area statue supporters. He wanted healing.
-
Hahaha when the fuqq has Trump "wanted healing" on any topic? He's the most vitriolic president by far.
