Being in another country, the UK feels like a crumbling mess. Public transport here (I’m in Germany) is faultless: fantastic trains, constant buses, cycle lanes everywhere. It’s clean. Money invested into making life easy and pleasant. Makes such a difference.
Honestly, I have no idea. Best guess is my coworker, who wasn't masked, even though I was. Thanks for the kind wishes, though! I think I did get a "mild" case, although mild (for me) feels like the flu from hell. Hope you stay safe!
BBC cancels Autumnwatch to focus on shows with "highest impact" Absolutely disgraceful decision in one of most nature depleted countries in world https://radiotimes.com/tv/documentaries/autumnwatch-cancelled-bbc-impact-newsupdate/…
40 years ago, British Gas was a national asset owned by all of us. Today, they break into our homes, shut off our heating and leave us to freeze. Time to end this failed experiment of Tory privatisation.
The strikes up and down this country are not just about pay ‼️😱😢
They are about poverty, hunger, stress, insecurity, inequality and injustice within our society ‼️😱😢
When you stand by striking workers, you stand up for a better world ‼️😱😢
I think the most dreadful thing about the current government is that they know they’ll lose at the next election and in the meantime it feels like they’re running a thinly veiled smash and grab on everything good about our society.
Dear journalist,
I am not a union boss; not the “boss” of any member of the NEU.
I am an elected representative of NEU members.
Why do you call union leaders “bosses”?
Why do you call company chief execs “leaders”?
Why union “barons”?
Why “captains” of industry?
Kevin

I applaud ULEZ & LTN. Finally something is done! Time is running out to reduce climate change (too late to stop).
Car drivers are violently mad about this though.
"Life is short anyway. I just want to live my life & have fun/do what I like" say parents of young kids.
Argh! 🤦🏻♀️
Toxic air causes the premature deaths of more than 4,000 Londoners each year. This is a serious problem I’m unwilling to ignore.
To make the ULEZ expansion easier, we’re launching the biggest ever support package to help Londoners switch to cleaner vehicles. See what’s on offer:
🚨 BREAKING: Shell has just announced record breaking annual profits of more than £32 BILLION.
So we paid their HQ a visit to deliver a message: STOP DRILLING, START PAYING.
#MakeShellPay
Shell just recorded £32 billion in profit.
3,000 people in the UK die every year because they can't afford to heat their homes.
There’s nothing pragmatic about letting greed run rampant while the poorest freeze to death.
Energy is a public good. It should be in public hands.
Shell's obscene £32,200,000,000 profits reminds us it's not a cost-of-living crisis because there's not enough wealth.
It's a cost-of-living crisis because the super-rich have hoarded all the wealth.
Any Tory MP who says teachers going on strike is damaging to students. Let me tell you that 13 years of continually cutting school budgets is far far more damaging to students.

I can’t tell you how angry today’s PMQs made me. Absolute boll**** from the Prime Minister on everything from poverty to standing up for working people. We deserve so much better
If you think the public deserve the truth RT this

"Please can we just have a city that it is safe to breathe in. I know us youngsters are asking a lot here and you guys really like your dirty cars but, come on, give us a break.”
Young people across our city have written to anti-Ulez council leaders:
After being approached by us for comment, British Gas has now suspended the practice of force-fitting prepayment meters.
Ofgem, the energy regulator, has started a formal investigation into British Gas, saying: “We won’t hesitate to take firm enforcement action.”
We left EU 3 years ago today & #Bregret is higher than ever. No wonder, with trade down 15%, investment down 13%, soaring food inflation, tax revenue down £40bn. Our economy, society & environment are being held hostage by #Brexit ideologues, yet MPs are too scared to call it out
The UK is going to be in recession, by choice https://taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2023/01/31/the-uk-is-going-to-be-in-recession-by-choice/… The IMF thinks the UK will be the only major economy in recession in 2023. That’s not surprising. We have a recession precisely because our government has chosen to have one.
A reminder : We’d never heard of Brexit until the EU decided on an Anti Tax Avoidance Directive, to control offshore tax havens.
But the “plebs” didn’t care about that - hence all the Vote Leave, Brexit Bollox that flooded the media. It was a huge scam perpetrated by rich folk.
, on the eve of the 3rd anniversary of Brexit. In all 650 UK constituencies apart from three (all in Lincolnshire), more people now agree than disagree that Brexit was a mistake. Biggest movement in left leaning areas.

Dodged at least £20m in Tax, won’t release tax returns.

After 13 years, and particularly the past few years, it is genuinely terrifying how little forward planning the Tories do. They simply bounce from mishandling one disaster to another. No planning, no preparation, just reaction, reaction, scandal, reaction, scandal, repeat.
Friday 27th: Unexpected surge in demand for Babcock shares traced to cabinet ministers.
Monday 30th: Sunk promises 800 new ambulances for NHS.
WTF, Babcock makes ambulances.
Yet again, the Tory Free Market Taliban show they have no beliefs beyond corruption

Sorry to hear this Piers - I feel it too. Air pollution gave me asthma as an adult. It’s an invisible killer - causing 4000 Londoners to die prematurely each year.
That’s why we have to take action now. https://twitter.com/piersmorgan/status/1619983263233355777…
12 years ago, when the Tories first came to power, did anyone think that we'd be sat here now, out of the EU, with virtually every public service about to go on strike, thinking about whether we could switch the heating on 'as a treat'?
I have been taught to yell “stop resisting” and “drop your weapon” after firing a gun, because bystanders will remember you said it and their memory will automatically reverse the order of the events to make it make sense. Their testimony will support yours, because of this.
