Some key points as we head into J6 hearings. The Capitol attack was 1) coordinated, 2) meant to be fast, and 3) derailed by a rapid police response that produced key delays. Watch here as democracy is saved by DC bike cops: momentum shifts after the first terrifying minutes. 1/

If wants to start reviewing video, there's over 5 TB of Capitol footage archived that he can watch. It's a public resource, hours and hours of brutal attacks on police. Those of us who watched it - we sure aren't proud of people like him. 7/

All video is publicly available on archive.org. The easiest way to start is through Jan6evidence.com: you can search ~3000 videos by time, location, and hashtag. For example, anyone searching for Ray Epps (#BigMagaCamo) can quickly find 30 sightings... 8/

O'Handley was interviewed in the VIP tent on Jan 5: "Everyone's going to look back and I hope they're damned proud of what they did during this very pivotal moment". More security footage will let us see what he did the next day while police battled to hold the U.S. Capitol 6/

O'Handley has millions of followers, though his influencer content is pretty generic. Like others in this space, he's an 'ambassador' for Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA. It sounds minor, but his fellow FL TPUSA ambassador Ana Paulina Luna just got elected to Congress. 5/

It's not clear if O'Handley's White House meeting really happened. The J6C didn't release a deposition. He's a former entertainment lawyer with a fancy degree (University of Chicago, same as Liz Cheney), but gave it all up to be a "political influencer on social media". 4/

"I was just at the White House - I can't tell you who I was meeting with, but they're optimistic. They think something good is going to happen tomorrow..it damn well better..I don't want to see these patriots more pissed off than they already are, in DC right next to Congress" 3/

On January 5, Rogan O'Handley was a prime-time speaker, just two slots before Mike Flynn. He fired up the crowd for the next day: "Are you fired up? Are you pissed off? Are you going to let them steal this election? It may be 40 degrees out here but it sure feels like 1776!" 2/

"Influencer" Rogan O'Handley aka DC Draino wants more Capitol footage from Jan 6. We want it too - we want to know where he goes after this fist-bump on the E. Plaza, 5 mins before the doors were violently breached. The night before, he'd said he was at a White House meeting...1/

Another difference from the US: popular outcry in Brazil to support democracy. Of course, in Brazil the attack was against the sitting president, not for him. And the property destruction was even more shocking. But this is still a model for the world. 3/

President Lula met with every governor and walked with every high official of the country, from all parties, down to the trashed Supreme Court to witness and condemn the destruction together. Read thread. 2/

Another extraordinary sight: President Lula, every governor, the heads of congress and senate, the president of the supreme court, all walking together towards the Supreme Court, reclaiming what Bolsonaro supporters defiled yesterday.

How a nation should respond to an attempted coup: with unity. For now anyway, Brazil shows how to do it right. 1/
Quote Tweet
Happening right now: Brazilian president Lula, the president of the supreme court, and governors (or vice gvns) of every single state, including those who supported Bolsonaro, together in the same room, unilaterally condemning the failed coup. Quite amazing really.

Note an important difference: the US was a "self-coup" attempt, with Trump still controlling the federal government. DC city police saved the day. The Brazil attack came after Lula was sworn in. Local govt. was complicit, but the feds could move fast. 18/

It's over. 20 minutes after President Lula issued a decree turning Brasília security over to the Federal Government, they"ve cleared the fascists out of the government buildings. An arrest warrant has been issued for Brasilia Security Secretary Anderson Torres.

Second, Lula vows to track down and punish those who financed the 'riot'. The mob in Brasilia came from elsewhere. Those who funded that travel knew what they were buying. The US has not yet reckoned with those who paid for our own Capitol attack. 17/

Brazilian President Lula responds forcefully, as he needs to. He calls the invaders fascists, then calls for two important things the US has not yet done. First, understand the security failure at the Capitol. Why was the attack not anticipated? 16/

Vocês devem ter acompanhado a barbárie em Brasília hoje. Aquelas pessoas que chamamos de fascistas, o que há de mais abominável na política, invadiram a sede do palácio e o Congresso. Achamos que houve falta de segurança.

The vandalism in Brazil is worse than that at the US Capitol. Here's the Supreme Court. Options are less in Brazil since inauguration is over; Lula is president & Bolsonaro is sulking in Florida - but enough destruction might pull in the military. 15/

Let's remember that Matthew Tyrmand was in the audience at the NYYRC last month when Marjorie Taylor Greene said that if she and Steve Bannon had been in charge of the Jan 6 attack, they'd have won. (Greene got her start in a Project Veritas op too). 12/

Tyrmand is live-Tweeting the current Brasilia 'riot' as well. 'Protestors' have now ripped off the door to the office of a judge of the Superior Electoral Court. Tyrmand approves, says the court "illegally & unconstitutionally blocked military audit of machines.." 11/

On August 10th, Steve Bannon introduced his long time friend, President Bolsonaro’s son Eduardo, to MyPillow owner and alleged January 6 Capitol invasion financier Mike Lindell on stage at his Cyber Security Symposium in Sioux City Iowa. Did they plan something for Sept. 7?

Finally, a hat tip to awesome reporting - worked out the negotiations by watching documents' metadata to see which were being updated during the Speaker votes. 7/

It appears some of these changes may have been part of the ongoing negotiation that occurred to get Speaker McCarthy the gavel. The metadata on the updated document shows it was last modified at 5:40pm yesterday, in the midst of final intense negotiations.

Impossible to overstate how important this is: Kevin McCarthy became speaker by giving Congressmen who sought to overthrow the vote (e.g. Jim Jordan) new sweeping power to "review" criminal investigations and see classified information. Read thread and article by . 1/

There are some eye-opening provisions in the text of the GOP’s proposed “select subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government” that will get a vote next week. One explicitly authorizes the review of “ongoing criminal investigations.” docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/
