I usually let this stuff go, but this is too over the top In splashy #JPM23 PR, @abscibio claim they can de novo design antibodies from scratch, but they actually design just the CDR3 (of 6 total) of existing Tx antibodies to their orig targets. That's not de novo design

iron & steel are metastable. we expend energy to turn iron ore into iron & steel, and it just wants to turn back. just *replacing* that corroded steel with fossil-based steels, could account for ~4-9% of 2030 emissions. unless .. we replace it with zero-emissions steel 😏
Quote Tweet
Super interesting new paper about the emissions burden of replacing corroded steel. Reducing corrosion = reducing primary demand = reducing emissions. Thanks @DrCMcCormick for finding this. FYI @rebeccawdell In @nature NPJ nature.com/articles/s4152

Lot's of debate and questions about what is and isn't TechBio 🤔 In my view, it's biotech all the way down. TechBio is useful for describing a subset of companies with new founders/investors/tech/biz models. Over time, it will be an irrelevant distinction like molecular bio 🧬
