I'm listening to the @CFBISD board members read through public comments as they're trying to determine whether to open schools. There are over 150 comments, and more than a few letters are heart wrenching.

There are single parents who cannot continue to care for special needs kids. There are medical experts who are concerned about the spread of the virus. There is a teacher who is having panic attacks because she both loves her job and doesn't want to die. (2/5)

What makes me livid about this situation was that this level of difficulty could have been prevented. Trump and his enablers have failed our teachers, our parents, and our kids. Our physical and economic health are in constant jeopardy. Needlessly. (3/5)

Daily I see my son wiggle through iPad school. I see a spectacular and loving teacher on the other side of the screen doing her best to control a remote class of 5 y.o.s in different home situations. I worry about one boy who always looks tired and alone. (4/5)

Tonight I think of how much I respect my former colleagues who have to pick up the slack for failures at the state and federal levels. I think of the teachers, staff, and kids that I swore an oath before my God and family to serve. My work is still for them. (5/5)
