There are Millennials with kids in middle school and still being talked down to as though they're still kids. It's wild.
I mentioned once that my 4 y.o. was reading a vintage '94 Spiderman comic. I got pushback, but I had to tell my pal that it was old enough to have a law degree and 3 concurrent jobs for which it was overqualified. People just don't wanna know how far away we are from the 80s.

My son read The Hunger Games the first semester of 2nd grade, and has been hooked on dystopian novels ever since. I got a LOT of pushback from the school’s librarian when she heard from his teacher. So, I feel you. 1/2

Stange thing is, some 12 years later as a 17-year-old, he FINALLY discovered the Harry Potter novels. He saw the movies before he read the books, and just wasn’t interested. He’s finally realized I wasn’t kidding when I said there were LAYERS of extra meaning in the books.
