My mother was a homeless veteran with an infant and a toddler (my brother and me), and we had a hard time getting help. Things have improved considerably since the late 80s, but as of 2016, women veterans are twice as likely as non-veteran women to experience homelessness. (2/5)

Getting access to Veteran's healthcare is still more difficult than it should be. We have amazing people wrapping their minds around the problems facing our increasing population of veterans, but many VA hospitals are still far too understaffed. (3/5)

It's important to express gratitude in word for our nation's veterans, but it's even more important to thank them in deed. Even if you're not elected, make sure that you ask your elected officials how they're serving the veterans in your midst. (4/5)
