His parents were good and successful. He was good and successful. He got the job, a nice apartment, and was known to his neighbors as someone who'd go out of his way for others. He was exceptionally raised and composed.

And these traits weren't enough to save him... they might have been the only reason he was afforded any justice at all. We shouldn't have to be perfect people to be afforded our humanity in life or in death.

Imperfect people of color have rights. We need to do the work in oversight and practice in order to live our values as Americans. Justice must truly be for all.
