When asked about his highlights volunteering at the lodge, Phil mentions that his highlight is all about the people. The friendly staff who create a “home away from home” atmosphere and the appreciation expressed by guests for making their stay a little better.
When Phil was back on his feet post treatment, he wanted to give back to his community and contacted Canadian Cancer Society to volunteer for a variety of projects. Phil was asked if he would be interested in being a volunteer shuttle driver at our Lodge and he gladly accepted!
Meet Phil Blanchard, a Volunteer Shuttle Driver at our Victoria Lodge. When Phil was visiting BCC for chemo following cancer surgery, he was impressed with the services provided by volunteers. They made each visit better by offering a service, or simply “just a smile”.
We could not have achieved this without our dedicated community of donors, partners, volunteers and staff, and we are deeply grateful for the support. Together, we have proven that we can change the future of cancer forever.
We’re proud to share our Impact Report from the 2021/22 year. In this report, you will read about your steadfast commitment and boundless support that has helped us make life better for people affected by cancer. 💛
The decision to have reconstruction is a very personal one, and it’s important to talk to your doctor about it before the cancer surgery.
Learn more about breast reconstruction: https://bit.ly/3Sd8pyk
You may choose to have reconstruction for these reasons:
➡️ It will make you feel more comfortable and confident and more like how you felt before you had the surgery for breast cancer.
➡️ You don’t want to use an external breast prosthesis.
There’s no better time to talk about breast reconstruction than during #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Breast reconstruction is surgery to make the breast look and feel as natural as possible after all or part of it has been removed.
