all of my profs have given a spiel on the importance of voting and getting out to vote tomorrow. one history prof today went into the legacy of college voting movements and the push to make election day a national holiday on which universities are closed so students can vote

"but they should have voted early or by absentee" buddy there are some states (michigan apparently) where you aren't allowed to vote absentee in your first election. also bureaucracy is a mess sometimes and people don't receive their ballots or receive them too late

anyways, requiring students to stay in class instead of voting is the same as requiring underpaid workers to stay at work instead of voting. being able to take off and head to the polls is a privilege that keeps students and workers who can't take off under-represented
